The exciting extra-inning contest that saw the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51 million viewers across the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB stated this represents the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Last Saturday’s epic contest averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic game after the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% increase compared to the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game was seventh, the fifth game came in 8th, and the third game finished in 13th place.

International Viewership Figures

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12M. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – averaged 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.
